The Idea

Experts in professional development Professors Tim Swanwick and Clare Morris had developed a learning programme focused on the principles of work-based learning for healthcare professionals.

To complement the programme, Cambridgeshire & Peterborough NHS Trust commissioned Tandem to produce a series of short podcasts that distilled the key ideas into accessible conversations that staff could listen to in their own time.

The aim was simple: create an audio resource that reinforced the learning in a way that felt clear, practical and easy to return to.

Tandem’s Approach

Working closely with Swanwick and Morris, Tandem shaped the structure of the episodes and recorded a series of thoughtful conversations between the two experts.

The recordings were then edited for clarity and pace, ensuring complex ideas were communicated simply and fluently. Short musical idents helped structure the episodes and highlight key moments.

The finished podcasts were packaged with clear titles and supporting information before being distributed across podcast platforms, allowing healthcare professionals to listen whenever and wherever suited them.

Why It Works

Short, focused audio is particularly well suited to professional learning. It allows busy people to revisit key ideas while travelling, walking or between meetings.

By presenting the material as an informal conversation between two experienced educators, the podcasts make complex ideas about work-based learning feel practical, approachable and directly relevant to day-to-day professional life.
